Marilys Nepomechie

Marilys Nepomechie, FAIA, DPACSA, is an architect whose writing, research, urban, and building projects focus on the environmental, cultural, and social contexts of design. They include proposals for resilient, affordable infrastructure and housing, many conducted through collaborative community-based design processes, presented and exhibited worldwide. Included in the archives of the National Building Museum, the work of her practice has been honored with over 50 professional and academic awards, national and international exhibitions, and publications. The National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Conference of Mayors, American Institute of Architects, and International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam; as well as the Andrew W. Mellon, Graham, CINTAS, and American Architecture Foundations have all supported her publication, research, and curatorial work. Inaugural Director of the FIU professional program in Architecture, Nepomechie has served as Co-Director of the International Union of Architects Education Commission, Co-Reporter of the UNESCO-UIA Validation Council for Architecture Education, and as national President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and the National Architectural Accreditation Board.
